The Sensible Gardener

The right plant in the right location with the right conditions

Wet shade shrubs include:

  • part shade shrubs, or plants that require from two to four hours of direct sunlight per day, and
  • full shade shrubs, or plants that require less than two hours of direct sunlight per day.

For wet locations with no direct sunlight but lots of indirect light, full shade shrubs are your best bet. For wet locations with no direct sunlight and little indirect light, try moss.

Note that, in each list, shrubs from different climate zones with different growing conditions may be mixed together. Before making a final choice on any given plant, always check all its characteristics to ensure it is the right shrub for the right place.
